FIELD: manufacture of materials used in oxidizing media at high temperature; manufacture of high-temperature electrical heaters and parts working at temperatures up to 1800 C. SUBSTANCE: composite material contains silicon carbide and molybdenum silicides MoSi2 and Mo5Si3; it additionally contains Novotny phase Mo5Si3C at the following ratio of components, vol.%: Mo5Si3 and Mo5Si3C, 7.5 to 67; silicon carbide, 20 to 75; MoSi2, 0.5 to 40. Volume fraction of molybdenum disilicide ranges from 0.5 to 5%; transversal size of silicon carbide particles is less than 30 mcm. Electrical high-temperature heater and part of structure are made in such way that different versions of composition and structures of composite material may be used at different sections of heater and part. Increased content of volume fraction of silicon carbide makes it possible to enhance hardness, heat resistance and electrical resistance of material.
