FIELD: thermal and acoustic insulation of pipe lines. SUBSTANCE: device is made in form of sleeve embracing pipe line over part of its length; sleeve is formed by aerogel. Method of thermal and/or acoustic insulation consists in filling the circular space between pipe line and envelope embracing it with insulation, preparation of liquid gel on base of primary particles and liquid, substitution of liquid phase of gel by more volatile solvent and removal of solvent contained in gel for forming the gel.
