FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: technique to evaluate quality of fabric includes determination of linear dimensions and surface density, number of fibers per 10.0 cm, breaking load, peeling, resistance to creasing, moving apart, shedding, abrasion, hygroscopicity, air permeability, stability of coloration, variation of sizes after wet treatment. Index of residual fouling (Зres%) presenting ratio of fouling in shirt-dress fabrics remaining after washing both bleached and colored light tones to total number of deposited fouling is found in addition by formula , where Xst, Xf and Xsyn are values of coefficient of reflection in dark blue region of spectrum in wave length range between 400-457 nm correspondingly for starting fabric, for fabric fouled artificially by aqueous suspension prepared on base of soot and oil and for fabric washed with synthetic detergent in home washing machine, Yst, Yf and Ysyn are values of coefficient of reflection in green region of spectrum in wave length range between 520-540 nm correspondingly for starting fabric, for fabric fouled artificially and for washed fabric, Zst, Zf and Zsyn are values of coefficient of reflection in red region of spectrum in wave length range between 620-640 nm correspondingly for starting fabric, fabric fouled artificially and for washed fabric. Value of index of residual fouling should meet condition Зres ≤ 48%. EFFECT: enhanced authenticity and objectivity of evaluation of quality of fabrics in process of their wear. 3 tbl
