FIELD: veterinary medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves taking smear from the superolateral vaginal vault at the level of uterine cervix by removing cell mass from walls with pipette for performing artificial insemination, possessing finished rough end (5-7 cm). The pipette is introduced through vaginal illuminated mirror under visual control. The sample is placed on the microscope slide as a thin layer, cell material is fixed, stained and the different cell types are determined and their number is counted. To set diagnosis, percentage of proper superficial cells possessing sharp-outlined nucleus, bare nuclei and their shadows is determined. The proper superficial cells contents being not greater than 7.5% and bare nuclei and their shadows being not greater than 1.3% , preovulation period of the sexual cycle is to be diagnosed and conclusions are made concerning favorable conditions for cow fertilization. The proper superficial cells contents being not greater than 7.5% and bare nuclei and their shadows being within the limits of 3.1-8.5% , pregnancy period is to be diagnosed and conclusions are made concerning favorable conditions for fetus development. The proper superficial cells contents being not greater than 7.5% and bare nuclei and their shadows being within the limits of 17.8-30.0%, pregnancy period is to be diagnosed and conclusions are made concerning disorders being available.
