AIR INTAKE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: mechanical engineering; internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: proposed air intake has plate base with air intake member fitted over base perimeter. Cover in form of cup is arranged over intake member. Base is installed on air branch pipe coaxially with the latter, with inertia device placed between branch pipe and cover. Inertia device is made of at least one conical surface secured on air branch pipe or plate base. This conical surface overlaps 0.2 - 0.6 of width of air passage between cover and air branch pipe in place of surface arrangement. Angle between section of mentioned conical surface and mentioned axis of air branch pipe directed towards cover is 30-60 degrees in any secant plane passing through axis of air branch pipe. Air intake member can be made in form of at least one gauze member and/or of fiber filtering member. Conical surface can be made detachable and can be provided with dust entrapping members. EFFECT: improved efficiency of air intake operation owing to provision of high-quality primary cleaning of air, simplified design of air intake. 5 cl, 1 dwg
