SUBSTANCE: lamp using plasma as light source has bulb made in the form of circular tube with transparent walls confining its inner circular space and filled with discharge gas, external inductance coil that functions to build up variable magnetic field inside inner space of bulb and that embraces permeable- material ring fitted on mentioned bulb with at least one of its turns, and ac power supply for external inductance coil. Used as discharge gas filling the bulb is any of inert gases that may be doped with vapors of working media (sulfur, rare-earth metals, halides of these metals, mercury, and the like).
