FIELD: pulse engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves setting up initial magnetic flux, introducing it in deformable circuit by means of shock wave of explosive material charge, and introducing magnetic energy into load; magnetic flux is compressed in circuit formed by multiple-turn toroidal coil by deforming each of its turns. Device for explosive cumulation of magnetic energy has deformable current-conducting circuit, explosive material charge, and charge initiating system. Deformable circuit is, essentially, multiple-turn toroidal coil; additional insulating part is placed between the latter and explosive- material charge. Electromagnetic energy produced in the course of compression of magnetic flux by means of explosive-material shock wave may be used for feeding high-impedance loads such as electron accelerators, plasma sources, microwave devices, and the like, as well as for building up superhigh-intensity pulse fields for studying the behavior of materials in such fields.
