FIELD: recovery of domestic and/or industrial wastes including carbon-containing materials. SUBSTANCE: process includes separation of carbon-free fraction followed by gasifying wastes in underground gas producer. Carbon-containing fraction of wastes is subjected to pyrolysis at 500-600 C prior to admitting it to gas producer; in the process, gaseous products of pyrolysis are mixed up with those released in gasifying process while remaining solid fraction and/or gases released in cleaning gaseous products of pyrolysis are introduced in underground gas producer; pyrolysis process involves recovery of heat transferred from products of gasification (gases) and/or from their combustion products. In addition, gaseous pyrolysis products are cleaned of incombustible gas fractions and/or resin, and/or water. EFFECT: improved stability of gas producer at increased calorific power of gasifying products (gases). 2 cl, 3 dwg
