FIELD: powder metallurgy; manufacture of metal granules including metals not forming continuous oxide film (magnesium, sodium, etc). SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes dispersion of molten metal in passing it through holes due to pressure differential and passage of metal through layer of inert gas followed by cooling in atmosphere; optimal diameter of jets of metal and their velocity at escape from holes is determined from the following relationship: 8σ/ρ < dV2 < 2π2σ/ρ, where d is diameter of metal jets, m; V is velocity of metal jets at escape from holes, m/s; ρ is density of molten metal, kg/cu. m σ is surface tension of smelt, N/m. EFFECT: possibility of producing metal granules having diameter lesser than 0.8 mm. 1 tbl
