FIELD: synthetic materials commercially applicable in manufacture of wear-resistant structural parts for use under conditions of high temperature, loads and aggressive media, cutting and treatment tools in medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: material is nanocrystalline. It contains zirconium dioxide and yttrium oxide in concentration of 0.3-8.0 mol.% insufficient for stabilization of cubic phase. This feature provides for higher bending and compression strength and lower friction coefficient as compared with stabilized zirconium dioxide. With presence of additional admixtures in amount of 0.1-5.0 mol.% yttrium oxides content amounts from 0.3 to 8.1 mol.%. Material is produced in lining slag by method of cold container. Material is used for manufacture of cutting members, joint endoprostheses and dented implants. In the latter case, applied to implant surface is bioactive coating of apatite hydroxyl. EFFECT: higher wear resistance of material and device based on this material. 16 cl, 6 dwg
