FIELD: radiolocation. SUBSTANCE: method of location of mobile subscriber can be used in cellular communication systems to locate position of mobile station, to find object needing assistance and to conduct dispatcher functions. Method is meant to increase precision of location of mobile subscriber under conditions of absence of direct beam of signal propagation and reduction of time required for formation of more exact evaluation of coordinates of mobile station. Statistics of distribution of readings of amplitude of input signal is employed in proposed method to determine fact of presence or absence of direct propagation beam. There is no need to conduct many measurements of distance to make decision on presence of direct propagation beam. Decision is made on basis of evaluation of relation of dispersion of amplitude of signal to square of its average value that is conducted by sequence of readings of amplitude of each location signal. EFFECT: increased precision of location of mobile subscriber. 4 cl, 5 dwg
