FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying anesthesia and marking the eye area to be subjected to ablation action. At least a part of the cornea is removed for making access to the cornea base. Ring-shaped part of substance is removed by means of laser radiation from the cornea base by applying ablation method. After performing ablation processing, the cornea is returned to its initial position on the eye. Cornea resection is executable so that its cut portion keeps on being engaged with the rest portion of the cornea and making, in unfolding, the cornea base open. Another approach involves removing the whole corneal disk for making access to the cornea base. The base being opened, it is dried out before the ablation procedure is carried out to avoid unforeseen ablation that could take place due to liquid available on the base surface. The laser beam is manipulated to perform circular scanning until the desired annular ablation zone is achieved with predefined width, depth and diameter being not greater than 3.5 mm. Otherwise, mask is to be applied to the central zone of the cornea base. To prevent from edema formation, the ablation zone is to be cleaned with a brush and irrigation. The device has marker resection unit (automatic corneal planing unit, in particular) and laser unit for carrying out corneal base ablation.
