FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for corneal crosslinking. For this purpose, corneal epithelium is removed. Epithelium is ablated by laser radiation of far ultraviolet range with pulse repetition frequency of 100–500 Hz, spot not more than 1.0 mm. Stroma is saturated with cooled to +(5–7) °C isotonic 0.1% or 0.25% riboflavin solution by combined drop-aerosol method with solution dispersion mesh technology. Laser radiation energy density is lower than the stromal ablation threshold of 16 mJ/cm2, or 25 mJ/cm2, or 48 mJ/cm2. De-epithelial corneal area is scanned at least 0.5 mm from the epithelial edge. Total radiation dose is calculated as per pulse energy and quantity thereof, divided into at least 3 stages with stroma saturation with riboflavin before each stage for not more than 5 minutes. Procedure is limited to one stage in preventive cross-linking with formation of a membrane structure on the ablative surface of the cornea.
EFFECT: invention enables personalized local corneal crosslinking.
