FIELD: cableways. SUBSTANCE: proposed invention is designed for protective cutoff of electric drive to prevent breakage of haulage rope. Device has three comparators, first of which responses to electric motor current rise, second one, to increase of rate of current rise, and third one, to reduction of electric drive rotational speed. At emergency situation caused, for instance, by failure of car to uncouple from haulage rope, signals exceeding preset levels appear at all comparators and provide operation of protection actuator. Possibility of recognition of beginning of emergency situation predetermines quick predicted switching off of electric motor, thus materially decreasing possibility of breakage of haulage rope.
