FIELD: metallurgy, possibly protection of melt metal stream at casting against influence of atmospheric gases. SUBSTANCE: protective sleeve is approached to casting zone and oriented relative to tapping hole. Then protective sleeve is abutted and forced to slide valve with effort exceeding by 2-5 times mass of protective sleeve. Shield gas is fed to zone of abutting of protective sleeve and slide valve, the last is opened and sleeve is descended under metal level in ladle. In the result of pressing protective sleeve with above mentioned effort, air suction is reduced in butt between protective sleeve and slide valve. EFFECT: enhanced quality of cast metal. 2 ex
