FIELD: metal melting equipment and processes. SUBSTANCE: charge components such as metal containing material, reducing agent and correcting additives (flux) are preliminarily subjected to grinding until particle size less than 100 micrometers, to homogenization and then they are fed to furnace together with oxidizer flow. In metallurgical reactor at burning fuel, charge particles are heated up to liquid phase state in volume of straight-flow torch for creating continuously flowing melt in the form of film whose thickness corresponds to size of elemental stoichiometric volume of melt formed around reducer particle. Melt metal is collected on walls of reactor and on surfaces additionally built into it and then it is subjected to final reduction. Reactor includes reaction chamber having two portions. Upper portion is forchamber designed for burning fuel and heating particles until liquid-phase state in order to receive melt film in volume of straight-flow torch. Lower portion includes surfaces built-in to reactor and having form of bunch of water cooled tubes coated with refractory material.
