FIELD: fire safety, electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device may be used for prevention of fire in rooms, buildings, houses, air planes, vessels, rail roads, and other locations. Method uses transient resistance as monitored parameter by means of measuring high-frequency current (second and higher order harmonics), which is function of resistance. Monitoring results output warning signal or instruction for switching power supply or electric equipment off. Transient resistance is produced in connection of mobile and stationary contacts of switching elements (relays, switches, connectors), as well as at connections of wires and access of electric elements to mains (connection boxes, plug-in connections, electric lamps, fuses). There is no state-of-the-art device or method, which provides fire prevention by means of generation of fire safety signal using value and/or intensity of transient resistance current. EFFECT: increased fire safety. 3 cl, 4 dwg
