FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to fire safety and electrical power industry, and namely to method and devices intended for prevention of fire (explosion) and failure of systems that lead to disasters and emergencies in structures, buildings, airplanes, vessels, railway transport and other facilities. The method is based on determination of parameters of spark gap resistance by measuring current of high-frequency components characterizing arc occurrence - arc quenching cycle at zero crossing of arcing current. Level of fire and explosion safety and failure-free performance of systems is assessed against integral factor of their dependency on arcing current value considering effect of shunting current, width of discharge gap and intensity of arcing as well as heat-removing properties of electric equipment and environment. According to results of control warning signal or command is generated to cut off the electric mains (installation).
EFFECT: improved accuracy for determining fire hazard level and reliability of the system as a whole.
