SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of safety of electrical networks and electrical installations. In the method, a change in a temperature in an area of a spark gap to its maximum value and a moment of its achievement are additionally predicted. At the same time, two stages of reliability of determination of the danger of a defective arc are carried out, and a decision is made either on disconnection or non-disconnection of a sparking electrical circuit. The device additionally contains a unit for prediction of the danger of sparking current and assessment of its reliability, connected to a panel for determination of a sign signal of a “spark occurrence-damping” cycle. The unit for prediction of the danger of sparking current and assessment of its reliability includes a circuit board for prediction of the danger of sparking current, connected to a circuit board for assessment the prediction reliability. The circuit board for prediction of the danger of sparking current includes a module for selection of an indicator of a level of the danger from the impact of the defective arc, which, in turn, is connected to a circuit board for making a decision on disconnection of the sparking electrical circuit, which is connected to an information display unit and a unit for disconnection of a controlled section of the electrical network or the electrical installation.
EFFECT: advance prediction of the maximum dangerous temperature and moment of its achievement in an area of a spark gap, and assessment of the reliability of making a decision on the execution of this prediction.
