FIELD: uranium compounds technology. SUBSTANCE: uranium hexafluoride/hydrogen fluoride mixture is subjected to first-step sorption on sodium fluoride at 423-463K and absolute pressure 0.7-4.0 kPa, in which step all hydrogen fluoride and part of uranium hexafluoride is sorbed. In the second step, essentially hydrogen fluoride-free uranium hexafluoride is desorbed. First-step desorbate is then subjected to selective sorption of hydrogen fluoride on lithium fluoride at 263-293K and contact time at least 20 s. Non-sorbed gases containing uranium hexafluoride and part of hydrogen fluoride are returned into sodium fluoride-sorption step together with initial gas mixture. Hydrogen fluoride sorbed on lithium fluoride is desorbed at 423-523K to give desorbate containing no uranium hexafluoride admixture. Uranium hexafluoride desorbed from the second-step sodium fluoride and hydrogen fluoride desorbed from lithium fluoride can be used as commercial products.
