FIELD: chemical industry; methanol producing units. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes compression of natural gas, sulfur purification, catalytic vapor conversion at recovery of heat of converted gas, compression of converted synthesis, gas synthesis of methanol and rectification; synthesis of methanol is performed at periodic replacement of upper layer of catalyst in nitrogen atmosphere for 0.5 to 1.75 of its guaranteed life; amount of catalyst to be replaced is determined from following relationship: Qfrans= Qlood•(A-1)•(B/C)n where Qfrans is amount of catalyst being transferred, cu.m; Qlood is amount of catalyst loaded in reactor, cu.m; A is coefficient (1.15 to 1.27), dimensionless; B is coefficient (1.65 to 1.75), %-mass; C coefficient (0.9 to 1.1), %-mass and n is constant (0.89), dimensionless. EFFECT: increased degree of use of natural gas and saving of methanol synthesis catalyst.
