FIELD: mills for rolling cylindrical rods. SUBSTANCE: method and apparatus are designed for receiving spiral member of rings freely falling from output end of conveyer and assembling rings to vertical cylindrical reel. Freely falling rings surround vertical guide and initially they are supported on closure members arranged in upper position. Closure members smoothly descend along unit of reel board onto which rings are assembled. Then reel board unit descends for going on forming of reel and closure members return to their upper position. Invention provides smooth motion of rings from zone of their temporary assembling with use of closure members to reel board. EFFECT: prevention of sharp falling of rings, provision of relatively constant spacing between freely falling rings during the whole operation of reel forming, controlled orientation of rings due to use of their distributor continuously rotating around cone head. 6 cl, 9 dwg
