FIELD: metallurgy, namely closing tap-hole in bottom of vessel with melt metal, for example with melt steel. SUBSTANCE: tap-hole is closed by means of tubular member having possibility of vertical motion towards inlet of tap-hole and from it and by means of closure arranged under bottom of vessel. Before each closing procedure in mouth of closing member compressible refractory material is placed. Just before immersing into melt metal in front of refractory material medium is placed in quantity preventing contact of refractory material with metal. At closing process mouth of closing member is passed through melt metal and it is pressed to bottom of vessel with effort providing compression of refractory material. Then closure is arranged outside vessel in front of tap- hole mouth and tap is filled with loose refractory mass through tubular closing member. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of closing tap-hole, increased useful life period of apparatus. 14 cl, 3 dwg
