FIELD: electrified transport; short-circuit fault location. SUBSTANCE: proposed contact system fault detector has current and voltage sensors of first and second substations, defective contact system feeder current sensor, current-to- voltage phase shift meters of first and second substations and defective contact system feeder, substation resistance set point devices, set point device of distance between first substation and sectioning station and also programmable multifunctional converters. Fifth multifunctional converter is made for generating output signal corresponding to distance from place of fault. EFFECT: improved accuracy of short circuit fault location in traction system. 3 dwg
