FIELD: location of faulty point in AC single-phase contact network in multitrack sections. SUBSTANCE: in agreement with first variant current pickups are installed at traction substation in feeders supplying contact networks of each track. There are also installed recording unit, controllers of signals characterizing parameters of traction network and adjacent substations, controllers of signals characterizing distance from substation to sectionalizing point and from sectionalizing point to adjacent substation and programmable multifunctional converters. Seventh programmable multifunctional converter can form output signal characterizing distance to point of short-circuit, realizing corresponding computation algorithm depending on current in faulty contact network and current in contact network of adjacent track, signals formed by controllers, first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth programmable multifunctional converters. Feedback is organized between seventh, fourth and fifth programmable multifunctional converters which takes into account parameters of traction network depending on point of fault. According to second variant intended for loop supply of contact network traction substation has current pickups installed in feeders supplying contact network of each track. Traction substation also has recording unit, controller of signal characterizing distance from substation to sectionalizing point and two programmable multifunctional converters.
