FIELD: mechanical engineering; piston machines with curvilinear surfaces. SUBSTANCE: proposed four-stroke internal combustion engine has housing with block with cylinders and pistons connected in pairs by connecting rods, and output shaft whose axis of rotation is parallel to cylinder axes. Cylindrical cam with closed curvilinear slot is installed on output shaft. Guide members designed for relieving engine from side loads are mechanically coupled with connecting rods. Crossmember is rigidly connected with piston rods. Axis of output shaft is arranged in one plane with axes of cylinders between cylinder axes. Cam in made in form of two cups with curvilinear edges. EFFECT: simplified design, improved reliability, reduced side loads in piston group. 5 cl, 4 dwg
