FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: in process of operation of mass flowmeter values of its current working parameters including frequency of vibrations and excitation power are measured. First and second derivatives of measured values of working parameters are computed. Deviation of measured values of working parameters and of computed derivatives from threshold values indicating presence of violation of at least one of operating modes of flowmeter ( inadmissible change of density of material, undesired content of volatile fraction ) are exposed. Depending on exposed violation pressure in flow tubes is reduced, usage of material flowing through flowmeter is adjusted or flow through flowmeter is stopped to prevent leakage of material through crack occurred in flow tube with the aid of proper actuating means. EFFECT: simple and reliable exposure of various violations of operational modes of flowmeter based on Cariolis effect at early stage of their emergence. 12 cl, 16 dwg
