SOFA Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: furniture for planes. SUBSTANCE: sofa has poles joined by draw bars, seat carcass and back carcass. Supports are attached to poles. Brackets pivotally mounted on supports are provided with bearing surface secured to back carcass and two openings with their axes spaced one from the other by such distance, that angle α defined by lines drawn from bracket rotation axis through axes of openings is equal to predetermined angle of rotation of back. Back rotating mechanism has lever positioned for rotation in bracket slot and spring-loaded retainers which are positioned in one of two bracket openings and connected to levers. Such construction allows several passengers to sit on sofa. Besides, it may be used by one passenger for resting and sleeping. EFFECT: simplified construction and wider operational capabilities. 2 dwg
