FIELD: metallurgy and foundry practice; applicable in modification of liquid metal. SUBSTANCE: device has shell accommodating successively arranged receiving, reaction and discharge chambers. Said chambers are located at the same level and separated from one another by partitions with holes. Partition separating reaction and discharge chambers has holes in its upper and lower parts, and its height is equal to 0.5-0.8 receiving chamber height. Partition separating receiving and reaction chambers has a hole in lower part. Discharge chamber has a drain hole in lower part. Reaction chamber volume exceeds volume of accommodated modifier by 3-8 times. Ratio of area of drain hole cross-section to cross-section area of hole in partition separating receiving and reaction chambers is 1:(1.2-2.0). In this case drain hole cross-section area is determined by formula , where M is weight of treated metal, kg; t is time of modifier dissolving, s; g is free fall acceleration, cm/sq. s; h is height of partition separating reaction and discharge chambers, cm.
