FIELD: corrosion protection. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inhibitor protecting metal when transporting hydrochloric acid solutions in cisterns, in etching operations at metallurgical works, during acid treatment of parts and acidic washings of heat-and-power equipment. Chlorine-mixture, prepared by chlorination of dibenzyl ether and containing benzyl chloride, benzal chloride, benzoyl chloride, and benzaldehyde, is treated with sodium hydroxide aqueous solution at 40-50 C. Appearing organic layer is treated with aqueous solutions of ammonia and formaldehyde at following molar ratios: benzyl chloride/formaldehyde 1: (1-1.1) and benzyl chloride/benzal chloride/ammonia 1: 1: (2.2-2.4).
