FIELD: meteorology and seismology; forecasting destructive earthquakes. method consists in analyzing the systematic instrumental observations of dynamics of soil and air temperature fields in regions of seismic danger on basis of weather stations of weather service. SUBSTANCE: in case of abnormal deviations in the course of yearly minimum temperatures at soil depth pf 1.6 m residing in regional smooth or even reduction of minimum yearly temperature from 0.5 to 1.0 C per year for period equal to or more than 3 years accompanied by impairment of dependence according to which amplitude of soil temperature fluctuations reduces at depth in such way that if depth increases in arithmetical progression, amplitude decreases in geometrical progression; epicentral zone of destructive earthquake is judged from area of maximum drop of minimum yearly temperature and time of destructive earthquake is judge from positive deviation of average monthly air temperature from average monthly temperature observed for many years which differs from standard course of average monthly temperature by continuity and duration by several times and achievement of positive deviation of average monthly air temperature from average monthly temperature observed for many years which is equal to or more than 6 to 10 C. EFFECT: simplification and low cost of method.
