FIELD: hydrometeorology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the performance of a very-long-range forecasting of the ice coverage of the Bering Sea; the essence of the invention is as follows: the Northern part of the Pacific Ocean is being monitored regarding the activity of four types of the atmospheric circulation: cyclones over the ocean, the Northwestern, Okhotsk and Aleutian, Okhotsk and Hawaii types of the atmospheric circulation; there should be computed the monthly total activity of the above types of the atmospheric circulation for the period of at least three years; taking into account the received data by means of the prognostic equation there can be calculated the monthly ice coverage of the Bering Sea on March or April with the forecast-time interval of 8, or 7, or 4 years.
EFFECT: enhancement of the efficiency of forecasting.
