FIELD: machining of hard-to-grind metals and alloys disposed for burns and microcracks. SUBSTANCE: device may be used in constructions of grinding and polishing machine-tools. Grinding wheels with cutting layer shifted axially is positioned on faceplate conjugated with spindle neck along helical surface at slope angle of about 45 deg to axis of rotation. Such screw movable joint imparts torque and torsional-axial reciprocating motions to wheel. Torsional-axial oscillations are produced by end cam positioned on tail spindle and transmitted through roller contacting it. Contact roller is positioned on external end of faceplate. Shock-absorbing elastic washers which promote torsional-axial oscillatory motions of wheel are arranged on screw neck of spindle on faceplate ends. Superposition of torsional-axial oscillations on rotary motion of wheel causes variation of speed and direction of wheel sliding with respect to part being machined, which results in improvement of machined surface quality and in machining efficiency. Excitation of oscillations by means of claimed device makes it possible to give up expensive magnetostrictive and electromagnetic vibrators.
