FIELD: machine engineering, possibly grinding and polishing hard-to-grind metals and alloys having trend to burnings and micro-cracking formation.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of imparting to grinding wheel rotation, feed and pulse type reciprocation axial movement with use of apparatus where grinding wheel is mounted on disc chuck mounted on journal of spindle. At side of one end of grinding wheel wave-guide is arranged and fork is secured to it. Ring having annular slit for placing fork is mounted in sleeve mounted on journal of spindle. At side of other end of wheel disc is mounted on end of spindle and coil compression cylindrical springs are arranged. Journal of spindle is joined with face chuck and with sleeve along splined surface. Mechanism in the form of hydraulic pulse generator is provided for pulse loading of wheel in lengthwise direction. Striker of said generator is mounted with possibility of acting upon wave-guide and providing axial oscillations of disc chuck carrying grinding wheel. In the result grinding wheel performs low frequency axial oscillations non-depending upon its revolution number.

EFFECT: improved efficiency and quality of working, intensified grinding process, enlarged manufacturing possibilities.
