FIELD: machine engineering, possibly finishing helical surfaces of screws, mainly with large lead angle of hard-to-form materials. SUBSTANCE: separate abrasive wheels are mounted in such a way that they are spaced one from another and inclined by acute angle α relative to plane normal to rotation axis of built-up wheel. Height of wheels is no less than half of pitch t of ground helical surface. Grinding wheel with circular strands rotates with independent rotation number. Lengthwise feed is realized due to reciprocation motion of product relative to working surface of wheel along ground screw by value equal to pitch of that screw. In the result of turning of separate wheels by angle α, peripheral surface of each wheel oscillates; it allows to use advantages of intermittent cutting at continuous grinding. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency, improved quality and accuracy of ground screws. 1 dwg
