METHOD OF INTERRUPTED GRINDING Russian patent published in 2002 - IPC

FIELD: depth and periphery grinding of material predisposed to appearing of burns and micro cracks. SUBSTANCE: method includes interrupted grinding by composite grinding wheel. The wheel is made of abrasive disks which are secured to the housing with axial space relative to each other and with inclination to the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Rotation and movement relative to the machined workpiece is imparted to the wheel. Face plates provided with rigidly secured abrasive disks and device of control of their mutual displacement are placed on the housing. The device of control is made of hydrocylinders. The working spaces of the hydrocylinders are formed by the housing with rigidly secured medium abrasive disk and with the above mention face plates. The faces plates are free to move simultaneously and symmetrically relative to the medium abrasive disk. The grinding wheel allows preliminarily grinding with maximum or permanently variable axial space between the abrasive disks or finishing grinding and dwelling with minimum space.
