DEVICE PREVENTING FALLING OF VEHICLE TRACTION REDUCTION GEAR HOUSING ONTO TRACK Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: railway transport; traction reduction gears of rail vehicles, motor cars and locomotives. SUBSTANCE: proposed safety device has limiting member of traction reduction gear housing. This member engages with holders installed in eyelets mounted on upper and lower halves of traction reduction gear from each of its short side in zone of flange joint. Holders can be made in form of rods, clamps or cables with thickened ends driven from different sides into sleeve mounted on upper half of traction reduction gear housing. Limiting members can be made in form of suspended plates, L-shaped eyes on lower half of reduction gear housing or in of eyes on upper half of traction reduction gear housing. Limiting members can shift lower half of traction reduction gear housing relative to upper half through at least four modules of gear train. Such safety device prevents falling of lower half of traction reduction gear housing, thus improved safety of traffic. EFFECT: improved safety of vehicle owing to perfection of safety device preventing falling of vehicle reduction gear housing in case of disconnection of its lower half. 4 cl, 6 dwg _
