FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for checking oil level and quality in initial combustion engines of locomotives and track machines. Proposed device contains housing with inner partition, mounting channel made in partition, three electrodes, cover, two measuring channels, electric connector secured in cover, temperature transmitter, aligning plate, three insulating gaskets, feed channel and two flanges. First measuring channel is formed by clearance between first and second electrodes and it communicates with ambient medium through corresponding channels. Electrodes are connected by corresponding conductors with electric connector first electrode, partition and over are connected with housing. Aligning plate is made of insulating material. Upper and lower pockets are made in third electrode. Feed channel made in cover communicates with upper pocket of third electrode and engine oil main line. Second measuring channel is formed by clearance between second and third electrodes and it communicates through upper and lower bypass channels with upper and lower pockets of third electrode, respectively. First and second flanges are connected, respectively, with second and third electrodes. First electrode is made in form of cup with bottom and drain channel in bottom. Second electrode is made in form of cylinder. Third electrode is connected to housing through partition and it is made in form of rod being designed for partial displacement in engine oil bath. First, second and third electrodes are installed concentrically: third one inside second one, second one inside first one. Insulating gaskets are arranged as follows: first one between housing partition and first flange, second one between first flange and second flange, third one between second flange and cover. Invention makes it possible to determine oil level in engine oil bath, increase accuracy of checking of oil quality at forced mass exchange of oil in measuring channel with oil in engine oil bath at direct contact of oil temperature transmitter with oil.
