FIELD: aluminum production. SUBSTANCE: material is formed by granulation of mass containing carbon particles and binding agent. Carbon particles may contain carbon material which is collected in anode firing. Carbon particles may contain residual dust in filter and impurities in the form of sodium and fluorine. Adding of powder/dust which contains silicon oxide to mass, renders impurities harmless. Added material may be prepared by crushing and grinding of used fire-clay brick to obtain its dust-like state.
