FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and may be used for surface hardening. The surface is pre-ground to select the optimum grinding conditions proceeding from obtained results. During said pre-grinding, thermal and force effects on grinding wheel material are defined. Conditions of grinding wheel destruction activation and defined to calculate duration of grinding unless the fall of abrasive particles from said grinding wheel. Such grinding conditions are selected whereat duration of stock material removal does not exceed the initiation of abrasive particles fall.
EFFECT: higher precision of grinding.
