METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PHLEGMATIZATION OF POWDERY EXPLOSIVE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: process of production of explosives, in particular, production of powdery explosives, for examples, nitramine, having a low sensitivity to mechanical effects as a result of phlegmatization. SUBSTANCE: phlegmatization is accomplished in the plasma of glow discharge at activity factors K=jt within 0.4 to 12.5 mA min/sq.cm, where j is discharge current density; t is time of treatment, min. The device has a vacuum chamber with a movable reaction vessel installed in it of dielectric material with two electrodes and current leads, plasma- forming gas feeding system; the reaction vessel is made in the form of a drum for rotation relative to the symmetry longitudinal axis, whose inner cylindrical surfaces carry blades for better agitation of specimen. The electrodes are made in the form of metal disks tightly pressed to the drum ends, one of which has through holes concentrically to the longitudinal axis of the drum symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the drum symmetry, and the current leads represent movable contacts, one of which is connected through a tube to the plasma- forming gas feeding system and made in the form of a hollow end-piece tightly pressed to the hole in the center of one of the electrodes. The vacuum chamber may installed horizontally or at an angle of 2 to 25 deg to the horizontal plane. EFFECT: simplified process of phlegmatization, enhanced quality of final product when used as a self-contained explosive or as a component of ЭКМ. 4 cl, 1 dwg, 2 tbl
