FIELD: industrial inorganic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: chlorine- free concentrated aqueous solution of alkali metal hypochlorite that can be applied to prepare disinfecting and decontaminating agents used to treat drinking water, etc, is prepared as follows. Aqueous hypochlorous acid solution is first prepared from primary alkali metal hypochlorite solution with concentration of active chlorine at least 109 g/cu.dm prepared in turn by electrolysis of concentrated aqueous solution of alkali metal chloride. Hypochlorous acid is then extracted from its aqueous solution by tributyl phosphate and brought to interaction in tributyl phosphate solution with alkali metal hydroxide aqueous solution preliminarily cooled to temperature from cm2 -10 to 0 C. Above-mentioned electrolysis is carried out at current density 0.1-0.3 A/sq.cm and 10-25 C. Alkali metal hypochlorite solution is poured into anode chamber of dialyzer and water is simultaneously poured into its cathode chamber at volume ratio of primary alkali metal hypochlorite solution to water between 1:1 to 1:2. EFFECT: increased yield of desired solution. 3 cl, 2 tbl, 15 ex
