FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: rotary internal combustion engine has pistons installed for reciprocating in cylinders equally spaced around longitudinal axis of rotation. Indicated axis is also axis of rotation of output shaft. Tappets coupled with each piston are adapted for engagement with wave-shaped cam guides arranged inside housing around it. Pistons are arranged in two groups, each including at least two pistons. Pistons of each group are located at opposite sides of axis of rotation of rotor unit and output shaft and are intercoupled to make pistons of each group move in concord, and parts are made and arranged to make tappets engage with cam guides to provided movement of one of piston groups in their cylinders in direction opposite to direction of piston movement in other group. EFFECT: increased efficiency owing to reduction of weight and overall dimensions of engine. 16 cl, 28 dwg
