FIELD: metallurgy, namelytesting hard alloy production. SUBSTANCE: method may be used for certification at determining optimal cutting rate - the most important characteristics of tool materials. Method comprises steps of measuring temperature in contact zone "tool material- blank material" at different cutting rates in order to draw functional dependence; preliminarily heating samples of hard alloy tool materials; in order to increase accuracy and to lower labor consumption selecting as initial parameter temperature of preliminarily heated hard-alloy tool causing paramagnetic state in oxide surface structure of tool corresponding to the least level of absorption of superhigh frequency energy by oxide structure. Then according to drawn graphics designating as optimal such cutting rate at which temperature of heating in contact zone corresponds to selected temperature of preliminary heating of hard alloy tool. EFFECT: increased useful life period of tools due to their working with optimal cutting rate. 2 dwg
