FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method is based upon selection of initial parameter - value of intensity of electromagnet radiation generated by polyoxide structures, films formed onto surface of hard alloy cutting tools at temperature and duration of oxidation heating being equal to temperature of cutting and duration of operation of the tools till achieving specified value of blunting after those tools are irradiated by pulse laser. Method includes standard wear resistance tests during process of cutting at optimal speed of cutting or speed being close to optimal one. Standard correlation relation is built which includes "wear resistance - initial parameter" value for specified temperatures of duration of cutting and heating. Current statistical inspection is carried out of only value of initial parameter for current set of hard-alloy cutting tools. Results of the inspection are used to predict wear resistance for current set of tools.
EFFECT: improved precision; reduced labor input.
