FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: method is related to determination of optimal speed of cutting with hard-alloy cutting tools according to selected initial parametre and includes preliminary heating of samples from tools, measurement of temperature in zone of contact between tool and treated material at various cutting speeds with building of graphic curve. In order to reduce labour intensiveness, for hard-alloy cutting tools of P applicability group, initial parametre established is temperature of hard-alloy tool preliminary heating, at which exothermic effect reveals to the most, being accompanied by formation of dissipative surface layer structure, which provides for most reduced diffusive penetration of treated material elements into structure of hard alloy and wear of cutting tool. Then using built graphic curve of cutting speed - cutting temperature, speed is assigned as the optimal cutting speed, at which temperature of heating in zone of working contact of tool and treated material corresponds to temperature of preliminary heating of hard-alloy cutting tool, at which exothermic effect reveals the most.
EFFECT: reduced labour intensiveness.
