FIELD: working steels and alloys by cutting while using hard-alloy cutting tools in metal cutting machine tool, certification of steels and alloys.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of measuring temperature in zone of tool- blank contact at different cutting speed values while plotting functional relation and preliminarily heating samples of hard-alloy tools for drawing graphic function of initial parameter upon temperature; in order to enhance accuracy, selecting as initial parameter preliminary heating temperature of hard-alloy tool when maximum level of vacancy conductivity is achieved in formed oxide semiconductor surface film structure for providing minimum electric component of adhesion with worked material; then according to plotted function "cutting speed - cutting temperature" selecting as optimal speed such speed value that provides heating temperature in zone of working contact corresponding to selected temperature of preliminary heating of hard-alloy tool.

EFFECT: enhanced accuracy and lowered labor consumption at determining optimal cutting speed.
