FIELD: transport engineering; starting aids. SUBSTANCE: proposed preheater has boiler for heating of liquid, combustion chamber with outlet branch pipe, burner with fuel pipe, and shutoff fuel valve. Burner is made in form of cylindrical tube accommodating evaporator made of metallic spongy material. Burner can operate both on gases and liquid fuels. Area of ring space between wall of tube and burner evaporator is not less than ? and not more than ? of tube cross-section area. Burner has starting device including atomizer and igniter with grounded and insulated electrodes, respectively, to form spark discharge between electrodes. Metallic spongy material plays the part of atomizer. Invention provides improved efficiency of preheater by increasing completeness of fuel combustion and stability of operation of fuel supply system.
