FIELD: functional diagnostics. SUBSTANCE: method is based on subjective sensation and identification of smell. Kits with following three olfactory-active substances are used: valerian, acetic acid, and ammonia tinctures. Ammonia tinctures are prepared in following concentrations: 0.0005, 0.001, 0.005, 0.01, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, and 1%. Valerian and acetic acid tinctures are prepared in following concentrations: 0.005, 0.01, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, and 1%. Each solution is placed in 100-ml glass flask with neck cross-section area 0.64 sq.cm. Smell examination is carried out at room temperature and temperature of solutions at 18-22 C in the following succession: valerian tincture, acetic acid, ammonia. EFFECT: simplified procedure and enabled obtaining reliable results. 3 tbl
