FIELD: food engineering. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has casing, cooking and drying chambers, moistener, charging and discharge hoppers, heat- carrier supplying device, and gas-distributing grids adapted for cooking and drying chambers and made in the form of endless grid-type tape supported by drums. Cooking chamber is positioned on upper run of perforated strip and drying chamber on lower run, under cooking chamber. Perforated strip is tightened by mutual movement of three tightening drums one relative to the other, and drive tightening drum of drying chamber is moved by crank mechanism. Product is discharged from cooking chamber into drying chamber by means of transfer device having plate, two troughs and cooking chamber tightening drum bearing supports connected one with the other for horizontal movement. Water collecting devices are arranged at predetermined pitch under cooking chamber strip, and moisteners are positioned above strip. Heat carrier supplying device has movable walls and wall moving mechanism. Section of heat carrier supplying device may be changed by changing length of cooking chamber. Apparatus may be used for cooking and drying of groats or leguminous products which do not require further cooking. EFFECT: increased thermal efficiency by complete utilization of heat carrier energy, compact and simplified construction, reduced heat loss. 6 dwg
